Connie Colter has served her community since moving to North Carolina four years ago. She has served as Vice president for her community board for the last four years in the Greensboro Housing Authority. She has served as a board member for YWCA Healthy Moms Healthy Babies for the last four years and continues to serve on the board after graduating from the program in May 2021. Connie attends Guilford Technical Community College as a full-time student. She is in the top 5% of her class and serves as President of the GTCC Communications Club. She has served as the Policy chairperson for the Ray Warren Early Head Start Center for two years. She is a recent graduate of the Ready Ready Community Organizing and Family Issues training. Inspired with the gift to help others, she is pursuing a degree in Special Education and Criminal Justice. In the future, she dreams of opening a school for children in the juvenile justice system to improve their educational opportunities. She is very active in the community while being a loving and devoted mother to her five children after overcoming domestic violence.
